phototropic architecture

phototropic architecture (Atelier Yukio Minobe 美濃部 幸郎 アトリエ, 2009)
This is an initial attempt to make an architectural form emerged merely for receiving the sun light as much as possible, with utilizing Phyllotaxis, that is one of the most performative geometries developed by natural plants for that purpose. Furthermore, another strategy has been deployed in order to average the amount of sun lights along the surface; Phototropism, which is also exploited by natural plants such as sun flowers. The “phototropic architecture” is intending to develop a methodology whereby buildings’ skins and forms can be emerged in order to maximise their utilisation of the inexhaustible energy only through material arrangements.
